A large, three-row SUV based on the T9 pickup platform from Kerman Motor has been spotted undergoing road tests in Russia, fully camouflaged for field trials. Recent images and videos from Russia reveal a seven-seater SUV variant of the T9, reportedly developed for the Russian market.

According to Russian media sources, this SUV is built on the T9 pickup platform and is being tested by Sollers Group—the largest automotive holding in Russia, formerly known as Severstal Auto until 2002. Sollers’ previous collaboration with JAC Motors in assembling pickups and establishing production infrastructure in Ulyanovsk strengthens the likelihood of local manufacturing for the final version of the T9-based SUV.

Strategic Expansion into the Russian Market
The release of these images coincides with JAC’s plans to introduce a new full-size SUV in Russia, prompting industry analysts to view this vehicle as a strategic move by Chinese automakers to deepen their presence in the Russian market.
Sources close to the project indicate that the prototype utilizes the T9 platform and measures approximately 5.2 meters in length, featuring a three-row seating configuration. The production model is expected to be equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine delivering around 220 horsepower, paired with an automatic transmission—though official specifications have yet to be released.
Rugged Platform for Harsh Conditions
The choice of the T9 pickup platform, which has already proven itself in international testing, suggests that Russian manufacturers aim to deliver a robust SUV tailored for the country’s demanding climate and road conditions.
Russian automotive analysts believe that the introduction of this T9-based SUV could create a new competitive segment in a market constrained by import limitations and a growing demand for large family vehicles.

Launch Timeline and Market Outlook
While the final launch schedule and official release details are pending confirmation from Sollers and JAC, preliminary reports suggest that the SUV may enter the Russian market in early 2026.
