Kerman Motor; A leader in developing infrastructure and training for electric vehicles in Iran

Mohammadreza Mahmoudi, Deputy CEO of Tejarat va Khadamat Bam Khodro Company, spoke at the Electric Vehicle Performance Awareness Seminar, highlighting the company’s 20 years of experience in providing after-sales services in the automotive industry. He explained that Bam Khodro began operations in 2005 (1384 in the Iranian calendar) to serve customers of Kerman Motor and Bam Automakers. With over two decades of experience in this field, the company is now considered one of the main players in delivering after-sales services within Iran’s automotive industry.

The Electric Vehicle Performance Awareness Seminar was held at the Olympic Hotel in Tehran, attended by judiciary experts, ISQI managers, and senior officials and experts from the Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade (MIMT). The event aimed to educate and raise awareness about electric vehicles.

Mohammadreza Mahmoudi announced the opening of 20 new dealerships in 2024 (1403 in the Iranian calendar). He added that by the end of last year, the company reached 135 active dealerships, and according to the goals set by Kerman Motor and Bam Khodro, an additional 40 dealerships are planned to join the nationwide network. This would bring the total number of active dealerships to 175 by the end of 2025 (1404).

Mahmoudi also emphasized the standardization of Kerman Motor’s dealership network, stating that one of the main objectives and policies in expanding customer service is to standardize dealerships in line with the latest company standards.

He further noted that one of the most important achievements in service growth last year was reducing the time required to supply and repair vehicle parts. As a result, the company recorded the lowest number of long-term vehicle downtimes within its dealership network.

Referring to Bam Khodro’s ongoing efforts to enhance customer services, Mahmoudi highlighted that in 2024 (1403), Kerman Motor inaugurated the country’s first specialized after-sales and repair center for electric vehicles. Additionally, for the first time in Iran, a specialized electric vehicle battery repair center was established and commenced operations within this facility.

He continued: Currently, 135 KMC T8 vehicles equipped for Kerman Motor’s emergency services are operating nationwide, providing customer support. Bam Khodro collaborates with over 2,500 vehicle transporters across the country to ensure Kerman Motor customers experience minimal concerns regarding after-sales services.

Mahmoudi also announced the construction and commissioning of a 4,000-square-meter warehouse for spare parts. He emphasized that, given the expanding product portfolio of Kerman Motor, the company has developed its parts supply infrastructure to increase the capacity of the spare parts warehouse, ensuring no issues arise in service delivery or parts availability.

Kerman Motor’s Specialized Electric Vehicle Center: A New Step in After-Sales Service

The After-Sales Service Manager of Bam Khodro, during the seminar on electric vehicle performance, detailed the company’s initiatives and plans for expanding after-sales services and infrastructure for electric vehicles in Iran.

Javad Moghadami emphasized that alongside the introduction of electric vehicle technology, fostering a culture of usage within society is essential.

He described the inauguration of the first specialized electric vehicle repair workshop by Kerman Motor as a significant and unprecedented milestone in Iran. He added that the center also hosts the country’s first dedicated electric vehicle battery repair hall as part of comprehensive customer service.

The After-Sales Service Manager stated that €100,000 worth of imported equipment has been procured to equip this battery repair hall, which, together with substantial domestic equipment investment, demonstrates their serious commitment to this field.

Additionally, a 7 billion Toman investment has been allocated to the development of charging stations.

He also highlighted the company’s significant investment in developing charging infrastructure, stating that a budget exceeding 70 billion tomans has been allocated for the establishment and expansion of Kerman Motor’s electric vehicle charging stations across the country. This investment aims to facilitate access for electric vehicle owners to charging facilities and to address their concerns in this area.

The Importance of Training and Empowering Personnel and Drivers

Moghadami emphasized the critical role of training in this emerging industry, noting that so far, 2,000 person-hours of training have been conducted in the field of electric vehicles, along with 1,200 person-hours dedicated to training emergency responders. He also mentioned specialized training courses for Kerman Motor’s electric taxi drivers, explaining that upon completion, drivers are awarded a practical electric vehicle driver certification card.

He stressed the necessity of developing standards and training programs for the use of electric vehicles in the country, identifying these efforts as essential prerequisites for progress toward the electrification of transportation.

Seminar Continues with Electric Vehicle Demonstrations

The educational seminar on electric vehicle performance proceeded with presentations from technical experts and trainers from Bam Khodro and Mapna companies, focusing on electric vehicle operation and raising awareness about the unique features of these vehicles. At the conclusion, judiciary experts, ISQI managers, Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade officials, and other guests toured Kerman Motor’s electric vehicle EJ7 and became acquainted with some of its technical and safety equipment.
