Despite the release of numerous videos showing Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) system failing to detect obstacles, running red lights, and the start of official investigations in the United States into fatalities linked to this system, Elon Musk has claimed that this technology will soon be safer than a human driver.
Musk has made the bold prediction that he would be “shocked” if Tesla’s Full Self-Driving technology is not safer than a human before the end of this year—a typically ambitious statement from the CEO, who is well known for his controversial remarks.

During Tesla’s 2021 financial results presentation, Elon Musk stated that instead of launching new products, the company’s focus would be on developing Full Self-Driving (FSD) technology. Musk and his company aim to make this system safer than a human driver by the end of 2022.
This major claim comes despite widespread criticism from U.S. officials and experts. Numerous videos have already surfaced showing malfunctions in the system, including collisions with obstacles.
Currently, Tesla’s Full Self-Driving option is priced at $12,000 and is only available for order in the United States. The technology takes over control of the accelerator, brakes, and steering on public roads.

اAlthough the driver can take control of the vehicle at any moment, Tesla’s technology relies on cameras to detect obstacles and navigate traffic. Musk told analysts:
“If we are not able to make the Full Self-Driving system safer than a human by the end of this year, I will be shocked. Truly shocked.”
